The Institution of Engineers
The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) reinforces its fundamental stance that the institution is all for positive change and the cornerstone for building strong, resilient and sustainable communities. The institution also induces a spirit of professionalism, social responsibility and a deep sense of patriotism. IEB provides many opportunities to grow professionally and intellectually as well-rounded human beings. In the process, technology awareness is developed, a new layer of knowledge is explored, practical life skills are honed and an ethical perspective is woven into an individual fabric. Today, this institution remains a front-running organization and is making it contribution felt in the region and beyond. The ubiquitous leader of Bangladesh, The Father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was an unconditional patron and lifetime member of IEB. I feel a sense of great pride, responsibility & accountability for being at the helm of such a prestigious organization. Our world acclaimed Honorable Prime Minister, the competent dauhghter of the Father of the nation, Deshratna Sheikh Hasina revolutionary Vison-2021 aiming at building a technology dependent country free from hunger, poverty & discrimination, is approaching fruition. The engineers have and will continue playing an integral role in the realization of this holy pledge from our inspirational Prime Minister. As Honorary Secretary General, I am profoundly committed to attracting the body of IEB Centres and divisions dedicated to professional excellence, pedagogical sophistication, top-notch research and service to the country in our mission to contribute towards accelerating national development. This institution is a renowned centre for forming charismatic leaders and ensuring professional development of engineering students. Now we also focus on facilitating exuberant and creative entrepreneurs. In our internationalization efforts, we are expanding our global network of partner institutions that spans the leading organization of Engineers in Europe, North America and Australia. With our many stellar achievements, we are proud of our leadership role while at the same time, we are unwavering in fulfilling our responsibility of propelling Bangladesh towards the status of a developed nation by 2041. It is a matter of great pride and privilege to be a part of such an esteemed organization as the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) that emboldens Engineering professionals to face the challenges of the industry. I have observed from close quarters the way in which this organisation has become the pioneer in building eminent institutions in professional spheres and has also been engaged to extending these endeavours all over the country & overseas. This has become possible through the untiring efforts of IEB executive bearers since the beginning which accomplishes the task by imparting skills related to practical scenarios & state of the art knowledge of their respective fields. This institution is devised to meet the ever-evolving needs of the country so that professionals can adapt to changes seamlessly and shine bright as proud engineers contributing immensely to the country development. To meet the future challenges we need to build on the alliances and collaborative partnerships the IEB has established with apex business, government and research institutions. It is equally important we keep close to our wider communities of interest within Bangladesh and internationally. This will help ensure the ongoing relevance of our progress & the continued excellence of our development, learning and research. As the Honorary Secretary General, I am confident our integrated effort towards achieving distinction in professionalism and inculcation of moral values in professionals from different sectors will continue to reign supreme in the future.
