Global Engagement of IEB

The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) actively advances international collaboration, professional exchange and engineering development through multilateral memberships and bilateral cooperation.

IEB maintains active networking with leading international engineering organizations and partner institutions to strengthen professional standards, knowledge sharing and regional cooperation.

At present, IEB is a member of six international engineering institutions and has bilateral agreements with engineering institutions of 24 countries.

Accreditation and International Recognition

Key international platforms where IEB and BAETE represent Bangladesh engineering education and profession.

Washington Accord (WA)

The Washington Accord, originally signed in 1989, is an international agreement among accrediting bodies for undergraduate engineering degree programs. It recognizes substantial equivalence of accredited programs and supports international mobility of engineering graduates and professionals.

BAETE, IEB submitted its self-assessment report to the International Engineering Alliance on September 14, 2021. On June 12, 2024, during the International Engineering Alliance Meetings (IEAM) 2024 held in Gurugram, Delhi NCR, India, BAETE, IEB was inducted as a full signatory of the Washington Accord with unanimous approval by 23 full signatories.

Network of Accreditation Bodies for Engineering Education in Asia (NABEEA)

NABEEA, established in 2006, is a network of accreditation bodies of engineering education in Asia to promote cooperation and improve accreditation systems.

Bangladesh, represented by BAETE, IEB, was one of the founding members of NABEEA, and IEB/BAETE has remained an active member since its inception.

Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP)

FEIAP is an international non-profit professional organization founded on July 6, 1978. Bangladesh is represented in FEIAP by IEB.

IEB was inducted into FEIAP in December 2009 through the 17th General Assembly held at Suntec City, Singapore.
