Smart pre-paid meters will reduce the cost of customer

President of Engineers Institution Bangladesh (IEB) and Secretary of Science and Technology Affairs Sub-Committee of the Awami League Md. Abdus Sabur said, "The present Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina's government came to power and brought many changes in the power sector of the country. The current generation capacity of the country is 22051 MW. The target for generating electricity in 2041 has been estimated at 60,000 MW. The new initiative of the government is the smart prepaid metering system for the proper use of electricity, including saving electricity, collecting revenue and preventing customer harassment. This smart pre-paid meter will greatly reduce the customer's suffering. 'He said this while addressing a seminar titled 'Technology and System Overview of Smart Meter in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)' at the Council Hall of IEB on Thursday afternoon.
The presidency of the IEB said, "Although the pre-paid meters that are present have different advantages, the customer has some difficulties in operating. Due to the lack of vending facilities at the existing pre-paid meters, the customer has to suffer a lot for vending. In the current digital age, customers have to stand in line for a long time to recharge pre-paid meters. There is no opportunity to recharge the pre-paid meter at home. Sometimes it is difficult for the customer to see the status of the meter. 'Engineer Abdus Sabur said, "In this current digital age, we need to introduce smart pre-paid metering system to make vending (meter recharge center) system more accessible to the customer." As a result, customers will be able to do vending at home through their mobile apps, SMS, internet, ATMs, etc. The smart prepaid metering system needs to be turned on to automatically monitor the status of the meter. In addition, smart meters will be required to launch smart grid in the future. So it is more reasonable to invest once in this case than to invest repeatedly. 'At the seminar, IEB Electrical Strategy Division Secretary and Executive Engineer of the DPDC said. Abdur Razzak presided over the function and the DPDC executive director (engineer) engineer Md. Ramiz Uddin Government. The special guest on the occasion was Brigadier General Md. Shahid Sarwar and Managing Director of DPDC, Bikash Dewan. Honorable General Secretary of IEB Khandaker Manjur Morshed gave the welcome address at the event. DPDC DGM (ICT) presented the keynote paper at the seminar. Quamrul Ahsan. DPDC Chief Engineer (Development) Engineer DSM Ferdous was also present on the occasion as the negotiator. Engineer Pratik Kumar Ghosh, Vice Chairman Engineer of the department thanked the seminar.
